It’s was a gorgeous Saturday afternoon.I waited anxiously on one of the busiest street corners in Santa Barbara with two 5D’s around my neck and a shoot sac in tow.I felt like a teenage girl waiting to be picked up for prom – you know – that nervous, excited feeling? I always get that way right before I shoot.I wonder if that will ever go away?
I had never met Emily and Nick before Saturday – they willingly and trustingly booked me over the phone. So, I guess it was more like waiting to be picked up for a blind date. But, when I saw Emily’s huge, warm smile for the first time I knew it was going to be an awesome session! Nick on the otherhand, was a little more skeptical, until I explained that I wasn’t there 1) to inflict pain or any type of discomfort and 2) I wasn’t going to make him do a reinactment of his high school senior portrait session. (whew! )
We walked the over-crowded Stern’s Wharf pier, stopped for a much needed tourist photo-op, visited the cutest little ice cream parlor AND rented beach cruisers. It was a session built around them being them.It was about honest emotion, easy laughter and just plain fun.I want to do it again.

I’ve never ridden a beach cruiser before – so Emily and Nick talked me into jumping on for a ride! And apparently, Nick is not too shabby with the camera.
